And that is right in tune with Jesus. When asked by a Pharisee to sum up God's law Jesus said "Love the Lord with all your heart, soul, and mind, and love other people as yourself. This is the essence of the law." So easy to understand, so hard to live.

This may be an angel story. Nothing says angels have to be dressed in white all the time.

Loved it, and couldn't agree more. If you want to be happy, start thinking that way. If you want to make the scene huge, work on it and really believe in it. I see it every time we work at Ark too. It's inspiring, and makes me positive about NJ's music future.

Kenny I couldn't agree with you more and I don't even live in New Jersey. Sadly, this topic is not localized to only one part of the country and it could probably be considered a growing epidemic.

You're absolutely right....attitude is EVERYTHING! Musicians, clubs, fans or anyone else pointing the finger and others are only making matters worse. Opportunities always exist and people who are truly passionate about something will always find those opportunities. There has been a lot of change in the music world over the last 10 years and as a result, the "scene" looks very different but none the less...it is there, no matter what city we are in. If we want to see it grow and see it thrive we have to focus on and promote the great things that are happening around us rather than complaining about (and in a very real sense promoting) what "sucks".

Thanks for sharing! You are dead-on!

Kenny, good job. I think many of us go through this same sort of transformation at some point in our lives. Well, at least those who continue to grow.

Keep up with the writing. I'll be checking in.

An old saying is that perceptions are sometimes right, and sometimes wrong, but always valid. This means that something caused you to see things the way you do, even if you are not seeing them accurately. The key to renewing your perception is discernment - exercising and developing the ability to determine when your perception is correct and when it is missing or misinterpreting information it needs to form an accurate picture. Discernment is a skill that takes a lifetime to develop.
